Australian Antarctic Division
The Australian Antarctic Division (known as the AAD) administers Australia's wide-ranging activities in the Antarctic and sub-Antarctic regions. It has the responsibility for administering Australia’s Antarctic Program. The Australian Antarctic Division is a part of the Australian Government's Department of the Environment and Heritage.

Antarctic Climate and Ecosystems Cooperative Research Centre
The Antarctic Climate and Ecosystems Cooperative Research Centre (known as the ACE CRC) commenced on 1 July 2003 and is now one of the largest research organisations in the world concerned with polar regions. Antarctic Tasmania is a Tasmanian Government initiative within the Department of Economic Development. This office is located at Salamanca Square, Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. The key function of Antarctic Tasmania is to enhance Tasmania's role as a port-of-call and supplier of goods and services for people engaged in activities associated with the Antarctic and the Southern Ocean.

Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources
The Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (known as CCAMLR) is located in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. The Commission administers the Convention on the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources. CCAMLR was established to conserve and regulate harvesting of marine living resources in the Southern Ocean below the Antarctic Convergence.

CSIRO Marine and Atmospheric Research
CSIRO Marine and Atmospheric Research (CMAR) was formed on 1 July 2005 with the merger of CSIRO Marine Research and CSIRO Atmospheric Research. The new division’s work encompasses the assessment of atmospheric and earth systems and the prediction of climate, weather and ocean processes; and research to integrate coastal management and ensure marine resources and industries are sustainable.

The French Polar Institute - (IPEV)
The French Polar Institute - Institut Polaire Français - Paul Emile Victor (known as the IPEV) uses the Port of Hobart, Tasmania, Australia, as its southern base. During the Antarctic summer season the French Antarctic vessel, "L'Astrolabe", regularly travels between Hobart and the French Antarctic base at Dumont d'Urville.

Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens
The Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens is Australia's second oldest botanic garden. It is located in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia and was established in 1818 as an outstanding cool climate botanic garden. A feature of the gardens is the sub-Antarctic Plant House which houses one of the most exciting and unusual collections which is nestled inside a small, specially constructed building. There’s no other collection like it, anywhere in the world. Here, plants from sub-Antarctic islands (located in high southern latitudes) are displayed in a climatically-controlled environment, where chilly fogs and mists mirror the wet, cold conditions of their island homes.
